Back to Work
I have been away for a while. I have been on that trip that I was talking about (and will continue to talk about) for a week and a half. I got back on Tuesday night and was planning on getting back to recording LP's the next day, but that didn't happen. I just have so much that I have to catch up on. There's all of the YouTube videos that I usually watch. There's emails that I need to check. Plus there is my actual job that needs getting back to, so I really haven't had a lot of time to record LP's. I was planning on recording something tonight, but I'm exhausted from hauling tons of crap (not literally) around all day. I will definitely get back to recording next week. I do have some good news though. Well, it might be bad news for you, but it's good for me. I decided not to make videos for the reviews that I made. That doesn't mean that I won't be reviewing the occasional game, but I won't make a video for it. I mainly made that decision because I ended up using a lot of pictures that I would get in copyright trouble for using, and it was also taking up quite a bit of my valuable time. Unfortunately, some of that time that I freed up will be put towards something new that I am going to start doing. You'll see soon.

Road Trip: Day 3
We woke up and had some breakfast and went directly over to the University of Utah, or "the U", for a meeting with some high school admissions guy and a tour of the campus. the tour was good, but the U has a two and a half square mile campus. Walking around all day made me really appreciate small colleges. The only weird thing was that there were a bunch of elementary school age kids there. I couldn't figure out why kids that young would be at college, especially during the summer. When we left I soon realized that Salt Lake City was really Bad City in disguise. No offense if you live there, but you've just had time to get used to the badness of the city. We decided to try and find some guitar strings, because my guitar was basically unusably in its condition. None of the places that we stopped at had guitar strings, so it was Bad City. When we were trying to leave all of those places we couldn't make a left turn to get out, because someone put a median in the middle of the road like they were trying to make every street a boulevard. That made it so we had to make a right turn and find the next good place to make a u-turn, so it was Bad City. After we gave up on looking for guitar strings, we decided to go to the movie theater to see Super 8. On one road we were going down, there was a light rail train track goin to our right. When we wanted to make a right turn we followed the track around the bend, assuming that it was going to stay in the right place, but that almost took us into opposing traffic, so we almost died, and so it was Bad City. When we got to the theater, we couldn't find anywhere to park, so we ended up parking on bum-street. There were so many homeless people there. Most of them were lined up at the homeless shelter/soup kitchen, but there were still a bunch just sitting on the sidewalk, and the strangest thing was that right next door there was a kindergarten or daycare center with kids outside on a playground. So it was Bad City. Super 8 was a great movie. It was everything I hoped it would be. It was like a cross between ET, The Goonies, and Alien. In a good way. The only problem was that I got a large drink, and I drank the whole thing in the first five minutes, so I was holding it for the whole movie. I would have left to use the restroom, but the movie was so good I don't want to miss anything. After the movie, I got my free refill for my drink, and we walked back to bum-street. I thought I was going to be mugged, because they could see that I had money for the large drink, so it was Bad City. When we were going back to the hotel, we ended up driving on this little road. I'm not even sure if it was a road. It was one lane of traffic with the light rail track going down the middle, and there were cars parked on the side of road that took up half of the lane even thought they were parked so that the car was taking up all of the space on the side walk. So my friend was driving half way on the train track, because it was unavoidable, and there were signs every ten feet that said, "don't drive on the tracks", and I had to look behind us to see if a train was coming, so it was Bad City. We returned to our hotel and went to sleep.

Road Trip: Day 2
When we got up in the morning, we drove across the street to McDonald's for breakfast. While crossing the street, we almost got hit by two cars. That was not our best morning, but for breakfast they messed up our order so I got an extra sausage egg mcmuffin, and that made our order come to fourteen dollars exactly. How often does that happen (in a state with sales tax)? When we were leaving Moab, I noticed that almost every hotel there was an "inn", which was weird. It is a small town that pretty much only goes down one street, but I counted fourteen inns. After that we visited Arches National Park, because we were only driving from Moab to Salt Lake City that day, and that is not a long drive. Arches was a big disappointment. We didn't want to do much walking because we are both very lazy, so we went to all of the arches that were visible form the road. There were only about five of them, and it took us over an hour to see them all. I don't think it was worth the ten dollar admission. So we went on towards Salt Lake City. Something that might not be very interesting that happened (that I'm going to tell you anyway) was that at a rest area there was a sign telling us about a landmark. We couldn't figure out which one of the little hills it was saying was important. As my friend was taking a picture of what he thought it was he stepped off the sidewalk and almost fell down the steep hill we were on. He blames it on uneven sidewalks, but I say he is just a spaz (American meaning, NOT the UK meaning). The trip was kind of uneventful after that until we got close to Salt Lake City. I think we were driving through Provo and I notice some billboards that were advertising for java developers (programmers, not coffee makers) and that was just weird for me, but at the time I thought that going to college near that place would be nice considering I want to study video game design or programming. Later we arrived in Salt Lake City, and I never imagined how beautiful it is there. It is surrounded by mountains and it has the lake to one side. We got to the hotel, and it was better there than any hotel that I've been in recently. We went to the campus of the University of Utah, which is where I was looking at, to make sure we knew how to get there for the next day when we were getting a tour. The campus has a great view of everything. It was great. So we went back to the hotel room. I got out my guitar and another string broke, so I was down to four strings. We went to sleep.

Road Trip: Day 1
I went on a road trip this week with a friend to look at colleges. I left from Colorado towards Utah on Saturday (a week ago). Not much happened the first day. One thing that happened was that the Colorado River was flooding and at a few points on the highway the road going the other way was underwater. That made some huge rapids right by the side of the rode. After that the next thing that happened was several hours down the road. We stopped at a bridge somewhere near Moab, Utah called the Dewey Bridge. We stopped because a sign said it was something historical. When we got to it there was nothing there. The suspension wires were all hanging down not holding anything up. I wondered what happened to it so I read the sign. It didn't mention anything about the bridge collapsing, so I figured that the river knocked it down that day, because it was going over the Colorado River. Later we made it into Moab, and everything was beautiful there, so we went to our hotel, which was the least expensive one there and it cost more than twice as much as anywhere else that we stayed. After that we tried to find a place to eat dinner. One place called The Blue Pig looked nice until we saw seven cop cars parked outside. So I thought, "Oh, now I get the restaurant's name: it's blue because they're blues, and it's pig because they're pigs. I they only served donuts, then they would have every police stereotype taken care of." So we ate somewhere else. We went back to the hotel, and I wanted to play some guitar before going to sleep, but when I was tuning it, the high E string broke, and I didn't bring any spares so I was stuck with only five strings. Finally I did last weeks blog and we went to sleep after a long day of driving.
Pixel Art
Hey, I've been on the road all this week so I don't have much for you. I also didn't have many pictures on my flash drive for you, but I have a couple and a good story of all the things that happened this week.
This is my picture of Faith from Mirror's Edge. I thought that it was a great game despite all of the extreme first person view that makes everyone sea-sick.

This is the first piece of pixel art that I have ever done. The last time that I uploaded pixel art I said that I might upload this picture, so I did.
I will put the road trip stories in the next few posts

House of the Rising Sun
Well, first of all, I didn't think I was going to post anything today because I forgot about my laptop. So, you get these this week, but you don't get much next week. I can't believe what is going on with House of the Rising Sun. It is a public domain song (look it up), but YouTube is yelling at me for copyright issues. I don't have to take down the video, but they're putting ads on it and I'm not getting payed when someone clicks on them.
